I am a User Experience Researcher at Facebook where I work on Search.
Prior to that, I was a Collaboration Researcher at GE Global Research in San Ramon, CA. Research areas I worked on at GE included mobile collaboration, expert search, alarm management in healthcare, and human-machine collaboration. Some of my work was covered in this news article and this blog post. In the past, I was an NSF Computing Innovation Fellow at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) where I studied social computing and social search. I received my Ph.D. from the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State University. My Ph.D. dissertation examined collaborative information seeking and sensemaking in two domains - healthcare and Web search. During my Ph.D., I enjoyed two internships at Microsoft Research in Redmond, WA in the areas of collaborative search and sensemaking. I completed my Bachelors in Computer Sciences and Engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology in India. I am passionate about human-computer interaction (HCI)/user experience, computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW), social computing, social and collaborative search, and social mobile applications. In my spare time I love to cook and explore the outdoors. News09/2017 Serving on the ACM CHI 2018 program committee as an Associate Chair.
